Spring Fields Baby Blanket

I’ve been waiting a long time to do this post because I made this blanket as a gift for a good friend of mine who is expecting her first little girl very soon. I wanted to make sure she was the first to see the blanket in its entirety, because I thought posting it before I gave it to her might ruin the surprise 🙂

I’ll be posting a pattern shortly, but I first wanted to tell you a little bit about this blanket.

**Update** the pattern is now finished and I’m looking for testers. Read more here.

The Spring Fields Baby Blanket is the first of a series of blankets I will create, one for each season.

The flowers on this pattern have been heavily inspired by the amazing Sophie’s Universe pattern by Dedri Uys at Look At What I Made. So I would like to give her a special design credit for allowing me to use a modified version of her flower. She’s a wonderful designer and has some amazing patterns coming out, so if you haven’t already, head along to check out her blog!

Sabrina (the wonderful woman I created this blanket for) has two favourite seasons: Spring and Autumn. She loves the freshness of the air paired with the clear blue skies. That is, if we are lucky enough for it not to be pouring with rain!

So this blanket was designed to embody Sabrina’s positive and uplifting personality, the colours I know she adores and the season she enjoys.

I designed this pattern for Caron Cakes because I love the gorgeous colourways they have come up with. For this blanket I used 2 cakes of Strawberry Trifle (how great is that name?) and managed to make the whole blanket with just a few meters to spare.

The pattern still needs a bit of tweaking, so I will be posting the pattern as soon as I’m happy with it.

Until then…

Katie

  1. This is one of the most lovely baby blanket’s I’ve seen in a long time! The textural element of the flowers and stems is really pretty. Sophie’s Universe is such a gorgeous pattern that I’m sure has inspired so many crocheters. I love that you took a piece of that inspiration to create something special and meaningful for your friend. I’m sure she loved it! 🙂
