Guess what? Today it’s my birthday and I thought it was high time to release the Winterberry Baby Blanket pattern to celebrate. Winter isn’t over yet after all!
It’s meant a lot of work writing, and then rewriting the pattern, and then for my lovely testers to give it a whirl and let me know what they think. They have improved the pattern immeasurably, so Zahra, Tamika and Katie: thank you!
The Winterberry Baby Blanket is the third in my series of seasonal blankets. It was inspired by the Faerie Cakes colourway to create this design. The blue ombre effect of this yarn is quintessentially winter. It made me think of chilly, frosty mornings when the sky is a clear blue. As in my other blankets, I wanted to create a design that reflects how nature reacts to the seasonal changes. It was a process, but I was struck by images I found of holly and winterberry plants. I love how the pop of colour their berries add interest to an otherwise monotone season.

I also thought I would share some of my lovely testers’ versions of the blankets. They look awesome as I’m sure you’ll agree!
Unfortunately the lovely Tamika @precious_heart_handcrafts spilt some blackcurrant juice on her lovely blanket just when she was about to take some photos. But I’d still like to do a shout-out because she was an amazing help! Fingers crossed I can update the post soon with some photos from her (if she can ever get the stain out!).
I hope you enjoy making this pattern. If you have any questions or comments, do let me know!
